Just Add Kids Christmas Party

The party will be for all area children ages 10 and under, if you have a child in that age range please stop in and have a great time!

Santa will arrive on a shiny bright fire truck, he will be escorted by the American Legion Riders as well as a police escort, can’t be to carful when you have Santa to protect! His estimated time of arrival will be 10 AM, but you never know you can’t pin Santa down even with that kind of escort.

The Legion is also going to sponsor five families that have a parent deployed overseas defending our freedoms. Santa will visit each of the lucky family’s homes and hand out toys to the Veterans children.

" The Angel Tree "

I'd like to take this time to wish everyone a joyful and safe Holiday season.  As many of you have read in our posting under The Christmas Party on our website, we were going to adopt 5 families of deployed service members in our area.  Due to the fact that our service members are returning home everyday, we will no longer be doing that.

Instead, Kenny Pridemore and I will be setting up a Christmas tree at the Post   on Saturday, November 27th.  This is a very special tree indeed !  It is an " Angel Tree " that will have Christmas tags on it for the children of Active Duty Members at Camp Atterbury Unit 1/290th SA.  Some of you have met SSgt Anthony Gonzalez at our Post.  It is for the children of his Unit.

The " Angel Tree " will have Christmas tags on it with the children's information on them.  Boy/Girl, age, interests & shirt size.  There are a total of 38 children.  I have made the tags in triplicate, since I know that so very many of our members have such big hearts and many have already expressed great interest to me about this.  The amount of money that you spend on your child(ren) is entirely up to you.  Anyone ... and I mean Anyone can take a tag/tags off of the tree and know that their gift(s) will bring such joy to so many children who by the Grace Of God, have their parent safely home for the holidays.

I am asking that you bring the gift(s) wrapped and with the appropriate tag on them no later than   Friday, December 9th.  I will be at the Post   on Saturday, December 10th to make the final preparations for Santa to distribute them at their Unit's Christmas Party which is being held on the   15th of December.

Christmas is truly the season of giving from the heart and all gifts will be so very appreciated not only by me, but by their parents who will treasure this Christmas more than most.  Afterall, the holidays are about families and we, the members of Post 130, have the chance of making the Children's Christmas even more special this year and in turn, we will be showing our appreciation to those Active Duty Members for their sacrifices that they have made for all of us, so that we may enjoy our freedoms and be able to spend a wonderful holiday season together with our friends and families.
